1PointFive and CBBEP Commemorate Opening of Land Conservation Building

As part of our continued commitment to investing in local communities, 1PointFive was honored to support the Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries Program (CBBEP) in opening a new Land Conservation Building at the Nueces Delta Preserve, a space dedicated to stewarding, restoring, and protecting one of the region's most vital ecosystems. The building will serve as a hub for the program's land conservation staff, equipping them with the tools, equipment, and workspace they need to manage nearly 12,000 acres of preserved habitat. This project marks a continued expansion of 1PointFive's multi-year partnership with CBBEP and its conservation efforts across the Texas coast.

The new facility features modern, energy-efficient construction, allowing staff to consolidate operations that were previously spread across shipping containers and outdoor storage. Kirsten Stansell, Executive Director of the Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries Program, spoke to the building's importance, saying: "This new building really helps them have the tools and equipment that they need. It keeps them in a safe place so they can do their work and accomplish all the wonderful goals we have out here for the preserve."

Following the ribbon cutting, 1PointFive team members rolled up their sleeves to support a hands-on restoration project, assembling biodegradable plant pods that will be packed with native seeds and transplanted onto spoil islands to create critical nesting habitat for migratory and coastal birds. 

Veronica Rapp, Senior Biologist, highlighted the importance of the partnership and the Nueces Delta ecosystem, saying: "The Nueces Delta Preserve is a very unique ecosystem. It provides a lot of different resources, educational opportunities and benefits to the communities around here; not only from an ecological standpoint but also providing a place where young students can come and be our next generation of conservationists."
