Two Collectibles. Every stage measured.
Liverpool FC, with the support of CarbonSig, measured the product carbon footprint of Mighty Red and Red Ted from manufacture to sale and had the numbers independently reviewed. Here's what that looked like, stage by stage.

Stage kg CO2e % of total Raw material 0.79 60.77% Transportation 0.02 1.54% Manufacturing 0.19 14.62% Packaging 0.09 6.92% Distribution 0.21 16.15% Total 1.30 100.00% -

Liverpool FC will address the residual emissions of both collectibles with 1PointFive's Direct Air Capture technology, removing an equivalent amount of CO2 from the atmosphere and storing it deep underground.Â
Part of Liverpool FC's The Red Way
The Red Way is Liverpool FC’s award-winning sustainability strategy. The partnership with 1PointFive marks another milestone in LFC's sustainability journey, showing how Direct Air Capture can be applied at the product level to help address emissions from everyday items. Making sustainable choices accessible to supporters is central to The Red Way's success.
Reducing emissions and addressing what is left.
Carbon removal works alongside reduction, not instead of it. Liverpool reduced what it could at the source, measured what was left across the supply chain and will address the residual emissions with Direct Air Capture.
Reduce
Each plush is made more sustainably with fibers made from recycled bottles and with lower energy demand.
Quantify
Every stage from manufacture to sale was mapped and calculated: raw material, manufacturing, packaging transportation, and distribution.
Address
The club will purchase Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) credits from 1PointFive equivalent to the measured emissions from each plush manufactured, facilitating the removal of that volume of COâ‚‚ from the atmosphere, with secure storage deep underground.Â
Verify
An independent third party reviewed the footprint and verified the data, making the amount of emissions traceable and transparent for customers.Â
One product is a pilot. The second is a repeatable model.
Many brands run a single sustainability action, learn from it and stop. Liverpool FC measured emissions from their commemorative jersey and will address the residual emissions with Direct Air Capture carbon removal. Now they are building on that best-selling launch to introduce two more products using this proven process.
-
Honoring the historic Champions League final in 2005 with a first of its kind jersey: with the carbon footprint measured across the supply chain and residual emissions that will be addressed with Direct Air Capture carbon removal.Â
- 100% sell-through rate
- 11,156 units sold
- 2nd quickest selling in the first three months of launchÂ
-
A different product category. A different supply chain. The same method. Two SKUs measured, to be addressed in parallel rather than one at a time.
-
With the method in place, the next product just needs measurement, not reinvention.
What it costs:
less than a dollar.
For the jersey, the cost of addressing the remaining emissions through DAC added less than a dollar to the item's cost. With Mighty Red and Red Ted, the cost came in even lower.
Two different products, two different supply chains, with the cost of addressing the remaining emissions from each under a dollar. This approach lets companies address their product emissions, bring a competitive, differentiated product to market and give customers a real way to support sustainability.Â
Durable carbon removal, verified at every step
Our first Direct Air Capture facility is designed to capture up to 500,000 tonnes of COâ‚‚ from the atmosphere once fully operational. Every tonne will be measured, independently verified and publicly registered, then safely and securely stored deep underground through geologic sequestration. That reliability is what makes it an effective solution for companies that want a credible, high-quality way to address product-level emissions.
Your product has a number, too.
If you can measure it, you can address it. Carbon removal works with any product, and most teams are surprised by how small the residual carbon footprint turns out to be. It's a way to make a meaningful impact on emissions, and the process gets easier with each product.
